Utility notification encompasses power, phone and cable infrastructure that may obstruct a load along its route. Carriers must contact all potentially affected utilities along a route to notify them a load is passing under their lines. If a load is affected by an overhead utility, carriers coordinate with utility companies to accompany the OSOW load and raise low hanging utility lines. Each company handles schedules differently, with some requiring a two-month notice. After utilities are scheduled, carriers relay changes in their progress to ensure the utilities are ready.
