The information included on this website is a result of NCHRP 08-97: Finding and Using Data to Identify and Evaluate Corridors for Transporting Multi-state, Multi-modal Oversize/Overweight Freight funded by the Transportation Research Board (TRB).  CPCS Transcom Inc. lead a team including Perkins Motor Transport Inc. and Portscape Inc. to study the multi-state and multi-modal challenges that OSOW freight encounters when traveling thoughout the US. The objective of this research project is to develop guidelines for use by US states and other practitioners to improve the permitting process and to evaluate potential oversize/overweight (OSOW) freight movement solutions involving multi-state and/or multi-modal transportation corridors. Ultimately, this research project is about identifying procedures, methodologies and information that will improve permitting processes, while promoting optimal decision making with respect to multi-jurisdictional and multimodal OSOW routing decisions.  The data displayed on this website was collected and validated by state permitting offices in 2014.
